Sarah began studying midwifery in 1996, following the home waterbirth of her nephew, during which time she has studied and worked with many amazing midwives. Sarah is apprenticeship trained, which has allowed her to have intimate, one on one contact with a working midwife and the many wonderful families she served. In addition to working in a homebirth practice for many years, she served an internship at Casa De Nacimiento, a birth center in Texas primarily serving Mexican families. She also has extensive clinical experience  in Women’s Reproductive healthcare, with over 10 years as a clinical and surgical assistant. Special areas of interest include breastfeeding and lactation, nutritional therapy, and well woman care. A former professional athlete, Sarah endeavors to share the benefits of exercise with her clients.

Sarah Macrorie is a Direct Entry Midwife, having completed the requirements for the CPM (Certified Professional Midwife). She maintains a current certification in Adult and Neonatal Resucitation/CPR and First Aid, and is certified by the Oregon Academy of Family Physicians in Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO).She is proud to have served on the board of the Midwifery Access Project, and is the current Advocacy Council Representative for the Oregon Midwifery Council, the professional organization for homebirth midwives in Oregon.

Sarah is married and the mother of two children born at home, Arlo(2003) and Emma(2007), Her  family is an amazing source of support and inspiration. Her mother is a retired NICU nurse and Lactation Consultat(IBCLC), a resource and inspiration. She is a student of the human body, fascinated by its immense wisdom and unfathomable perfection, and an avid food gardener.
